The first draft has been revised and is being redrawn. While going over the revisions I realized I was including things in Book 1 that needed to be in Book 2, so I made a big decision and cut Book 1 off after Chapter 3, which will make it 148 pages including chapter breaks. This means Book 1 will be the smallest of the books, but I think I was forcing stuff in to make it more epic-novel-y. So Book 2 will pick up with Milo waking up in the Citadel and follow him and the others into Bacax. This will give me the time I want to spend on all the characters before that event.

So after putting up 7 more pages, the entire rough draft of Book 1 is actually online here, except for the the ending, which I needed to alter a bit to fit the end of a book. I'll leave it up for a while, but when I redo my site this page will only link to sketches and info.

The first draft of Book 1 is done. I stopped posting those pages because the process morphed into pen sketches on folded pieces of typing paper:

And I don't know how interesting any of that would be to people who are not me. The revision process involves finishing the art and completely redrawing some panels. Here is a before/after shot of Molly from page 2:

As mentioned before, certain scenes are being changed, moved, deleted and added. It sounds more involved than it is. I'll be posting sketches and concepts here from now on, with the occasional finished page from Book 1. I am especially looking forward to posting a couple of my "SKETCHES FROM THE FUTURE!!!". The Flood is a big story and I think anyone who actually visits this site deserves some peeks into what might be 500 pages down the line.

The Flood is not a web comic. Though much of the comic at this stage can be read online, it is being written for print, and it is expected the first volume will be printed in late 2006 or early 2007.

The pages on this site are representative of a first draft, and a full read through will present inconsistencies that reflect in-progress revisions.

This comic will be rendered in pencil and will contain lots of blood, horrific gore, swear words, scary monsters, drug use, sexual activities and naked body parts of both sexes.

For those of you wondering what the finished art will look like, I'll have an announcement when I post the closing pages of Chapter 2. By announcement I mean I'll just post some words or something. Like I'm doing right now.

It should be noted that Ambra's reaction on page 110 is to Simon's wound, not the mok's. I haven't yet nailed down the layout to make that clear.

The first book will be three chapters. I figured out what needed to be included in the third chapter and how to modify the first two to flow into it a little better. It took me a while, but I figured it out.

I'm also working on the cover to Book 1 finally, and I hope a certain someone is still willing to color it for me.

I've encountered the first need for a major revision. Two scenes need to be rewritten and one scene needs to be moved to accommodate this revision. What I've discovered is that I've written two characters that only need to be one. This kind of thing was inevitable, and I'm actually surprised I got this far without having to do more serious changes. As with other, less major revisions, I'll be doing this off site, so it will only affect the finished pages. This may make the next few posted pages seem a bit odd to anyone following along from the beginning, but I think it's been clear that this is the first draft.

I have not uploaded any recently completed pages because this site is moving soon. The upside of this is I will be uploading the entire fight scene (it's 8 pages) in one chunk when the move is complete. Fight scenes should really be read all at once.
